Sub-lethal toxicity of indigo dye (Indigofera tinctoria) on Oreochromis niloticus juveniles

چکیده
Abstract Background Textile dyes which are eliminated as unfixed through the effluent from textile industry cause deleterious effect on fresh water fish. Thus, toxicity tests were conducted using indigo dye Oreochromis niloticus juveniles (mean weight 30.00 ± 0.73 g) a test fish under bioassay system. Varying concentration of 0.00 (control), 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 mg/l containing graded levels Indigofera applied in experimental tanks to determine lethal concentration. The LC 50 at 96 h was 1.3 water. histopathology (heart, gills, kidney spleen) quality parameters (Dissolved oxygen, pH temperature) determined standard methods behavioural responses observed. Results Histopathology heart, spleen revealed degeneration cells, space formation, slight cellular changes vacuolation among treatments especially higher 1.5 mg/l, 2.0 solution used except control. DO control significantly different units while there no significant variation temperature all units. Effects ( P < 0.05) throughout experiment. Behavioural exhibited by include irregular swimming, hyperventilation, rapid opercula movement, restlessness. exposure period both boosted these behaviours. Conclusions findings this study indicated that is toxic fish, movement mortality influenced dosage each duration exposure.

Acute toxicity and effects of sub-lethal malathion exposure on biochemical and haematological parameters of Oreochromis niloticus
The specimens of Oreochromis niloticus were exposed to Malathion to determine the lethal concentration (LC50) value and effects of sub-lethal concentrations on haematological and biochemical parameters. The LC50 value was registered as 1.06 mg/l. Fishes exposed to sub-lethal concentrations (0.12, 0.23 and 0.46 mg/l) for 6 weeks revealed that the pesticide causes alterations in various blood par...

Indigofera tinctoria was permeabilized with 20% methanol (v/v) at 25 ◦C and released 8 ± 2 μg indigo g−1 dry plant material (excluding roots). This is equivalent to 42 ± 11% of the total indican within the cells. The plants began to recover after 2 weeks.

This study aimed to assess genotoxicity in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) erythrocytes after exposure to a sub-lethal concentration of 10 mg L(-1) di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) for 24 and 96 h. The results showed that mean MN frequencies in both DBP and ethyl methane-sulfonate (EMS, positive control for MN bioassay) groups were significantly different (p<0.01) with respect to control and sol...

Lake Metztitlán was dried up completely in the spring of 1998 and refilled in August of that year. In the period September-November, two cohorts of 1.6 million juveniles of a tilapia hybrid were stocked (Oreochromis aureus/O. niloticus), and monitored every month for one year. Since the date of birth of these juveniles was known, the analyses focused on whether the ring marks of the scales, sag...
